When supporters of disgraced South Carolina police officer Michael Slager tried to start a GoFundMe campaign for him after he was charged for the murder of Walter Scott, the crowd funding site rejected the campaign, saying that it violated its terms and conditions. GoFundMe says it does not allow campaigns “in defense of formal charges of heinous crimes, including violent, hateful, or sexual acts.”
