12 year olds Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier brutally stab classmate and friend Payton Leutner 19 times in an attempt to gain favor with the Slender Man. The girls lured Payton into the Nicolet National Forest outside of Maukesha, Wisconsin where they held her down and viciously and repeatedly stabbed her, leaving her in a pool of her own blood to die. They hoped to become surrogate killers for the fictional horror character the Slender Man and gain access to his mansion which they believed was in the northern part of the forest. Within a hairs-breadth of death, Payton pulled herself to safety where she was found by a passing cyclist and rescued.
